Question
Hi Amy I have a 80000 grain fleck 7000 softener and need to replace resin There now is only 3 people living here and want to know how much resin to fill the tank and can I partially fill to fulfill present needs
Answer
Yes you can put in as little as 1 ft3 but because of the wider tank it will be susceptible to channeling if you all of your water flow to go too high. Run this calculator to see how you capacity you actually need. https://www.apswater.com/Water-Softener-Calculator.asp Each ft3 of resin does 24000 grains at 8lbs per ft3 salt setting. You will need to adjust your salt setting to 8 lbs per cubic foot of resin you use.
