Question
I have a 5600 econominder house filtration system. Every year a service tech comes out for regular maintenance and every year they replace the resin media. Is this necessary? I have been reading that the resin should last A LOT longer before it would need to be replaced. I have not noticed any difference in the water quality. Thanks
Answer
it really depends on what type of "filtration system" you are talking about and what you are filtering for. If it is a water softener you are being taken because softener resin lasts 8-20 years depending on what it in the feed water. If you have city water to start with then 10 plus years is normal. If it is a different device and you are not on well water, then you probably didn't need the device to begin with. For instance if they put a whole house carbon filter on your house, they are polluting your house with bacteria and it should be removed. If you are on well water, then it really depends on what device you have. It could be an iron filter or something like that that might require more frequent but yearly it most likely too often.
